A visit from Prof. Colin Jevons

On January 17, 2024, we had the honor of welcoming Prof. Colin Jevons, Associate Professor from the Department of Marketing at Monash University, Australia. During his visit, Prof. Jevons delivered an insightful lecture on the sustainability of startups—a topic of great relevance given the fluctuating fortunes of startups in recent years.

Prof. Jevons explored the critical question: Are startups sustainable? With the rapid rise and fall of many startups, it has become increasingly important for students to understand both the risks and opportunities within this sector from a marketing perspective. His lecture provided students with a comprehensive analysis of the startup landscape, offering valuable insights into the challenges and future prospects that entrepreneurs and marketers must navigate. Additionally, Prof. Jevons shared what it’s like to study marketing in Australia, enriching the students' understanding of global educational opportunities.

The session, held on our campus, attracted over 40 eager students. They not only learned from Prof. Jevons but also had the chance to apply their knowledge by developing and presenting their analyses to their peers, making the lecture an interactive and engaging experience.

Our long-standing partnership with Monash University, one of the world's top 50 universities, continues to be a source of pride for the University of Jakarta International. We value this collaboration highly, as it allows us to learn from leading institutions abroad and strive toward our goal of becoming one of the best universities in Jakarta. We aim to benchmark ourselves against top global universities to continuously improve and innovate.

We extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Jevons and Monash University for this enriching visit. We hope the lecture left a lasting impact on our students and look forward to more such enlightening sessions in the future. Thank you for your attention, and stay tuned for more updates.
